My writing expertise includes assisting four college presidents with speechwriting, testimony, opinion pieces and blog posts; my own freelance pieces have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, McSweeney’s and Bethesda Magazine. I have fifteen years experience helping college students tell their stories through compelling testimony presented to elected officials.
I’m here to help you tell your story, whether it’s through an article, essay, opinion piece or speech. Looking to connect with your reader or audience? Need editing, social media advice or assistance placing your work? We can do that.
I hold a B.A. from Wake Forest University (English major, Phi Beta Kappa Honors Society) and a Master’s of Public Policy from the University of Maryland (Sexton Public Service Fellowship).
Articles, Speeches and Opinion Pieces: I’ll determine the project scope, conduct research and interviews, prepare and fact check drafts, and do a final edit after client feedback.
Editing: We all benefit from feedback and a second set of eyes on our work. I read student and professional work and offer my suggestions for improvement.
Strategy and Advocacy Messages: We can work to ensure you or your organization are seen and heard; we’ll explore social media tools, grassroots advocacy and legislative paths — and we’ll craft a message that people remember.
“A must read” – Dr. Jill Biden, professor and wife of Vice President Joe Biden, on my New York Times article on community college students.
“Kristin takes the time to understand the people she is working with when writing for them and, as a result, has a unique capability to capture their voice. Her writing conveys her character’s conviction in powerful ways and draws readers or listeners in so that they want to know more.” – Dr. Charlene Nunley, Retired College President
“You are beyond good at this. We knew you were a gifted writer, but now we know you are a gifted editor as well.” – Client
